King Marine Canvas is pleased to announce their support of the U-11 “Peters & May” unlimited hydroplane as part of the 2011 racing season.
The U-11 is currently being prepared at the Unlimited Racing Group (URG) facility north of Seattle. The project is spearheaded by Scott Raney, a 22-year veteran of unlimited hydroplane racing, along with J.W. Meyers, driver and part-owner of URG. They expect the U-11 to be competitive from its first race, tentatively scheduled for July 1 in Madison, Indiana. Northwest races on the schedule include the Tri-Cites on July 29th and Seattle’s Seafair on August 5th.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the U-11,” says King Marine Canvas owner Dave Hauck. “I’ve been a hydroplane enthusiast since I was a kid.”
Other sponsors of the U-11 include Stevenson Roofing, West Coast Collision Center, Primus International, ADC Mobile, Renton Coil Spring, J&D’s Hydraulic & Repair, RivTech Drift Boats and the U.S. Marine Corps.
King Marine Canvas was tapped to fabricate protective canvas covers for a number of vital areas of the boat, including cockpit, rudder, propeller and engine. The King Marine Canvas logo will appear prominently on the U-11 throughout the racing season. Dave is reciprocating by displaying the U11 Racing logo on the KMC truck.
